On the 25th June, the Executive Committee of Wirt iż-Żejtun met the Hon Dr Owen Bonnici, Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government. The meeting was held at the Ministry’s Office in Valletta.
During the meeting, the committee presented its views and proposals one how the cultural heritage of enriching the South East of Malta can be appreciated better by locals and tourists. Tourism in south east Malta can be marketed differently from other areas and its particular heritage can be used to promote niche market tourism and adventure tourism.
Minister Bonnici shared his views on this matter and agreed that more thought should be given to such aspects of authenticity and uniqueness enjoyed by different localities within our islands, notwithstanding the fact the small size of our country.
The Executive Committee informed the Minister that Wirt iż-Żejtun is there to assist and give its input to government in issues related to heritage protection and promotion in the region of which iż-Żejtun forms part.
