Dialect

We consider the promotion and safeguarding of our dialect as a key towards preserving our identity.

Few appreciate the fact that a small nation as ours has its own language – the Maltese language; and much less acknowledge the fact that notwithstanding the limited geographical area of our country, one could identify the place of nativity of a person as soon as he or she speaks through their dialect.

Unfortunately our dialect is being lost and a limited number of residents use it when talking.  The stigma against people using their mother tounge has ruined our identity.

In this page we will be promoting our dialect by guiding you to resources available in order to help appreciate better the importance of preserving our dialect.

You are invited to join the Facebook group created by Lino Psaila, a key local promoter of our dialect by clicking here.
