LECTURE TOUR FOR TOURIST GUIDES

As a non-government organisation working in the cultural heritage sector, our main mission is to disseminate information and instill interest in the history and heritage of our home town.  The number of activities organised in the past four years since our foundation were aimed at different sectors of the population.

In order to attract foreign tourists to our locality and share the richness of our history, we have thought of start organising events which are specifically addressed to tourist guides. Our first activity is planned for Sunday 8th March 2015.  This will take the form of a lecture tour which will be led by various people who will be sharing their knowledge on different heritage aspects found within the centre of iż-Żejtun.  Ruben Abela, who is the President of Wirt iż-Żejtun and a conservation architect by profession will be giving an overview on the urban development of this town and will be highlighting historical and architectural important buildings within the town centre.  Anthony Spagnol who is an artist and a paintings restorer by profession, will be sharing his knowledge about the important paintings one finds at the St Catherine’s Parish Church.  Joseph Magro, who was the architect responsible for the new art and history parish museum will be guiding us through the collection exhibited in this museum.

At the end of the lecture tour, we will be visiting one of the local bars where local folk singing (għana) is performed every Sunday morning.

Those wishing to participate are kindly invited to register here-under by filling the requested details.

A registration fee of €5 in aid of our organisation will be collected at the beginning of the lecture tour.
