On Thursday 1st May, Wirt iż-Żejtun organised again the heritage trail “On the Turks’ Trail – 1614”, this time intended for children. This is one of a series of events which Wirt iż-Żejtun is holding throughout this year to commemorate the 400th Year anniversary of the Turkish Razzia of 1614.
The trail started from the Old Parish Church of St Catherine and ended at St Clement’s church and followed the same itinerary of the one organised last March. More than fifty children coming from different ages participated in this trail together with their parents and group leaders.
Three different local organisations participated in this trail, these included the Zejtun Scouts Group, the Zejtun Corinthians Football Nursery and the Society of Sacred Doctrine (MUSEUM) – Boys.
The tour ended with a battle between the Turks, Knights and Locals in a field close to Bulebel, where it is documented that the real battle took place on the 6th July 1614. The re-enactment was done by Show of Arms.
