In less than six months from the sudden loss of the Żejtun Parish vice-parish priest, Dun Rene’ Cilia, the Żejtun community has been shocked again now with the sudden death of its Arch-Priest, Rev Eric Overend at the age of 47.
Rev Overend has been urgently admitted to hospital this morning but passed away in the afternoon. His sudden death came just two days after the death of his mother, whose funeral was scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
He has been the Arch-Priest of Żejtun for the last ten years and during his time he has done a number of projects within the parish. But Fr Eric will be remembered for his spiritual dedication among the parishioners.
