On the first year anniversary since the approval of the statute of Wirt iż-Żejtun, we have received a message from Mr Nicholas Cutajar who currently lives in Australia.
Mr Cutajar was the Public Relations Officer of Wirt iż-Żejtun when this was set up in the 1970s. Through his message, Mr Cutajar mentioned a number of activities which were organised by Wirt iż-Żejtun at that time, including amongst others the Zejtun Week which used to be organised during October and the performance of the Manoel Theater Orchestra at the Old Parish Church.
He also made mentioned a number of key persons who worked within the committee of Wirt iż-Żejtun at that time. These included the late Frank Ghio who presided the committee, Frans Zahra who was the Secretary and William Pomroy who was the Treasurer.
At the end of the message, Mr Cutajar congratulated the new Wirt iż-Żejtun on its first anniversary since the approval of its statute.
It was so interesting to hear from Mr Nicholas Cutajar. A blast from my childhood past. I recall that Mr Cutajar was a prominent local expert in philately at the time i.e. 1980s he was a family friend and my father’s colleague(E.V.Borg).
Good to hear from you and thank you for your support
