On the eve of the feast of St. Gregory, Wirt iż-Żejtun held a talk as part of its commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the foundation of the first parish from the Parish of St. Catherine of Żejtun.
Using historical maps, Architect Ruben Abela took the audience back in time, by tracing the development of the Parish of St Catherine from 1436 to 1614, the year of the last Turkish raid on the island.
Mr. Michael Buhagiar, from Żabbar, on the other hand, shared his own historical research on the foundation of the Parish of Our Lady of Grace of Żabbar and the events that followed.
The talk took place at the old Parish Church of St. Catherine, otherwise known as the Church of St. Gregory in Żejtun.
