Ms Fiona Vella, the Public Relations Officer of Wirt iż-Żejtun, has been elected as a substitute member on the Civil Society Committee of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development.
The Executive Committee of Wirt iż-Żejtun has nominated Ms Vella as a representative on the sector of environmental protection and improvement, including the protection of animals, culture, arts and national heritage. The MCESD received seven nominations for the posts in this sector to fill the positions of a representative and a substitute member. Following the elections held on Tuesday 18th February, Dr Petra Caruana Dingli, who was nominated by Din l-Art Helwa was elected as a representative, whilst Ms Fiona Vella and Mr George Camilleri, also nominated by Din l-Art Helwa, gained equal number of votes.
Today Mr Camilleri conceded the post for substitute to Ms Vella. This was a kind gesture from his part and a sign of the healthy collaboration which exists between Din l-Art Helwa and Wirt iż-Żejtun.
Whilst appreciating Mr Camilleri’s and Din l-Art Helwa’s gesture, we congratulate Ms Vella for this position which will definitely strengthen her experience in the heritage sector.
