Wirt iż-Żejtun, today has collaborated with the Għaqda Ħbieb tal-Kappelli Maltin and lead a tour to four chapels at Zejtun.
Members of the Għaqda Ħbieb tal-Kappelli Maltin were toured around by Wirt iż-Żejtun President, Ruben Abela. The group met in front of the Zejtun Parish Church and walk to Misraħ Carlo Diacono were the urban development of Zejtun was first explained to the participants. Then a brief historical overview about the two private chapels, that of Our Lady of Good Counsel and St Angelo, found in this square was given.
The group walked and entered into the Chapel of Tas-Sinjura. This was followed by a visit to the nearby Chapel of Santa Marija tal-Ħlas. In both chapels, Ruben Abela gave a historical account about the buildings and their works of art.
The next chapel to be visited was that dedicated to the Holy Spirit located in Triq Santa Katarina. The tour ended up by a visit to is-Salvatur.
Along the routes between one chapel and another the visitors were given a taste of the architectural heritage of Zejtun.
This tour was another event by which Wirt iż-Żejtun is getting people aware about our local heritage and the importance for its appreciation and protection. It was also a sign of good co-operation between our organisation and other NGOs. Such events should pave the way also for more co-operation with local NGOs.
