Following the publication of an advert by MEPA on the Sunday newspapers notifying and inviting the public to send their comments on a proposed “agritourism” project at il-Munxar, St Thomas Bay. Wirt iż-Żejtun went on Facebook to raise public awareness on this case.
Immediate were the protests and opposition to this development proposal by the general public and the reaction was unanimously aimed at safeguarding this natural environment and the intact landscape of the area. This area is scheduled by MEPA as an Area of High Landscape Value and and Area of Scientific Importance. In a reaction to the media, Perit Chris Borg, Director of Planning stated unequivocally that the project is a “non-starter”.
Wirt iż-Żejtun is supported by other eNGOs and will keep on following up this case and raising its objections to such proposal until the applicant withdraws this application.
