Yesterday evening at the Zejtun Parish Hall, Wirt iż-Żejtun held a public interview with His Excellency President Emeritus Dr. Ugo Mifsud Bonnici on the ties between the Mifsud Bonnici family and Zejtun.
It was interesting to note these ties go quite far back in time. One member of the Mifsud Bonnici family was very active within this locality during the French blockade at the end of the 18th century. His Excellency Dr. Mifsud Bonnici shared with his audience, some of the history of his ancestors, as well as his own experiences within the community of Zejtun.
This event was the first in the programme of activities which Wirt iż-Żejtun has planned for the coming months, in commemoration of the fifth anniversary of its foundation. The official logo commemorating this anniversary was also launched during this event. It was chosen following a competition held during the past summer months. The logo was designed by Marvic Muscat and he was awarded his prize during the event.
